Brian McIntyre, trainer of undisputed super middleweight champion Terence Crawford, responded to the question of whether Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez should continue boxing after his loss to Crawford.
“I would really love to see Canelo back in the ring. If he wants to fight two or three more times, let him do it. He’s earned the right to do whatever he wants. He fought the best boxers of his era, and when you reach that level, it’s already in your blood.
Go ahead, Canelo. Fight again. Two times, three times, four times. As many as you want. Jermall Charlo recently said something like: ‘This is my weight class. I’m coming back.’ So fight Charlo.
If Alvarez loses? Then maybe he’ll need to think about retirement,” McIntyre said.
Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) lost by decision to Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) in his previous fight. Detailed fight stats from RTFight can be found at this link.
