Ex-Usyk Opponent Wants Him to Retire

Former world Cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis explained why he believes three-time undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk should hang up the gloves.

– Oleksandr beat Anthony Joshua twice, Tyson Fury twice, and Daniel Dubois twice. He’s running out of opponents. Who would you even want to see him face next? Or maybe it’s time for him to say: ‘I’ve done everything. Time to hang up the gloves and enjoy life.

– I used to think he needed to retire. Because in Heavyweight, at the Olympics, in everything he’s done, he’s already achieved it all — everything, including the big money.

If you want my opinion, he should retire as a king, because you know, it’s very hard to walk away at the right moment. Timing is everything. I think he should finish now, because you never know what might happen. This is boxing, and anything is possible, – said Briedis.

Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) last fought against Daniel Dubois, scoring a fifth-round knockout. His next opponent is likely to be the final one of his career.
