Ukrainian featherweight Arnold Khegai (23-3-1, 14 KO) has revealed the consequences of his bout against WBO champion Rafael Espinoza. The fight ended by stoppage — after the 10th round, Khegai’s corner refused to let him continue due to an eye injury.
“Hello everyone! I want to let you know that yesterday I had to undergo an emergency eye surgery right after my medical examination.
I believe God has a plan, and that I will be able to return. Now I face a long and difficult rehabilitation. Thank you for the support!” Khegai wrote.
Espinoza responded in the comments under the Instagram post:
“My prayers are with you, you will be okay.”
For Espinoza (28-0, 24 KO), this was his fourth title defence — and his fourth consecutive stoppage win.
