Wawrzyk Arrested in the USA for Theft

According to reports from Boxing Zone and Ringpolska.pl, Polish heavyweight boxer Andrzej Wawrzyk has been detained in Sarasota County, Florida. He is charged with shoplifting merchandise valued at over $300, possession of anti-theft countermeasure tools, and non-violent resistance toward a law enforcement officer.

This is not Wawrzyk's first brush with the law in the United States. In 2023, he was arrested in Chicago on similar theft charges. Due to this repeat offense, authorities are currently considering starting a deportation procedure against him.

The 38-year-old Pole last competed in February 2025, where he suffered a technical knockout loss to Damian Knyba in the 3rd round. Wawrzyk is currently on a three-fight losing streak.
