Akhmadaliev Stops Castillo, Secures Inoue Fight

On the night of May 31, in Guadalajara, Mexico, a super bantamweight bout (limit: 55.3 kg / 122 lbs) took place between Uzbekistan’s Murodjon Akhmadaliev (14-1, 11 KOs), the WBA interim champion, and local fighter Luis Castillo (31-7, 20 KOs).

Akhmadaliev scored multiple knockdowns throughout the fight and secured a stoppage victory in the eighth round — TKO 8.

Immediately after the fight, Matchroom Boxing announced Akhmadaliev’s next opponent: Naoya Inoue (30-0, 27 KOs), the undisputed super bantamweight world champion.
