Abdullah Mason Defeats Noakes to Become the WBO Lightweight Champion

On November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Ring IV boxing event took place, headlined by the WBC Light Heavyweight title fight between David Benavidez and Anthony Yarde.

On the undercard, a bout for the vacant WBO Lightweight title was held between American Abdullah Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) and Britain’s Sam Noakes (17-1, 15 KOs).

The fight went to the scorecards: 117–111 and two scores of 115–113 in favor of Abdullah Mason.

The WBO title became vacant after Keyshawn Davis gave it up, unable to defend and moving up in weight.

At 21 years old, Abdullah Mason is now the youngest world champion in professional boxing.
