Believe in Yourself, Even When No One Else Does
One of the biggest lessons life has taught me is this: you must believe in yourself, especially when no one else does.
I still remember the day I chose boxing.
To most people around me, it was a shocking decision. Some thought I’d lost my way.
While others my age were chasing jobs at UBA, First Bank, or companies like Mouka or Golden penny foods, I chose a different path, one without a suit, a salary, or a clear roadmap. I didn’t choose boxing because it was popular. I chose it because I loved it. And that love transformed me.
Boxing didn’t just shape my body, it shaped my mind, my discipline, and my perspective on life.
But at the start, no one else could see what I saw.
People doubted me. Some even tried to talk me out of it. Even my dad, someone I deeply respect, struggled to understand why I would walk away from "better" opportunities. That was hard. But I held on to one belief:
This sport will take me places. I will become great through boxing.
And I told myself something else: One day, the same brands people once said I should work for will come looking for me.
That day is beginning to arrive.
Huge thanks to Gloves for Africa founded by Chuks Uwaechia, you believed in me when I was just a name with a dream. You gave me a platform, support, and a shot.
Today, I’m proud to say brands in the UK like Kent Housing, HKA, TKO, Fraquabottle, Vogue & Stylez, and even Frank Gilfeather, a legend in the UK, have stepped forward to support my journey.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) sent me gear to help fuel my dream.
And this one touched my heart: Mouka Foam and Golden Penny Foods , companies I once dreamed of working for now Sponsored my Guinness World Record attempt.
I believe more will come. Who knows? Maybe one day, Tony Elumelu of UBA will call me up as a brand ambassador. I believe it’s possible.
This journey isn’t just about boxing.
It’s about passion, purpose, and having the courage to trust your own vision.
To anyone walking an unfamiliar path, keep going. People may not understand now, but if you stay true to yourself, one day they will.
