Deontay Wilder Ready to Fight Joshua

Former WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KO) has shared details of his immediate future in the ring.

“The Bronze Bomber” revealed that he is planning one more bout in September—with South Korea under consideration as the host—and another in December, at a venue still to be confirmed.

Looking further ahead, Wilder says he wants a major showdown in 2026 against former two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO).

“We’re moving according to our plan. I definitely need a couple more tune-ups. There’s still a lot of work to do before I really feel the joy again and know I’m truly back.

That next one could be Joshua. If the fight gets made, we’ll be ready to go down that road. There’s big money on the table, but sometimes it’s not only about money—you have to be sure everything is organised the right way. We’re in a business that dishes out pain.

When we’re ready, everyone will know. We’ll take it fight by fight, step by step. But I’m back—just be patient with me. I’m back, folks. The moment I get home, I’m heading straight to the gym,”

On the night of 28 June, Wilder stopped Tyrrell Herndon inside seven rounds, dropping him in the second and sixth before the referee waved it off in the seventh as Herndon sagged on rubbery legs.
