Tyson Fury: “Itauma Will Destroy Usyk”

Former British World Champion Tyson Fury shared his thoughts on the future of his compatriot Moses Itauma. According to Fury, the young prospect is already capable of defeating Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk, as well as other elite fighters of the division.

“I’m constantly being asked about young Moses Itauma — about his potential fights with Oleksandr Usyk and other big names. My opinion is not the opinion of someone who doesn’t know boxing. It’s the opinion of a man who’s been there, who won every possible belt, who achieved everything there is to achieve in this sport — and did it very well.

Boxing is a young man’s game. As I once told Wladimir Klitschko when he was 37: boxing is for the young, and it waits for no one. So you’ll hear my view for the first time. Moses will smash every old man in this division — Usyk, Joshua, Miller, anyone, even Zhang and Luis Ortiz. All those big names of the past have run their course. Even the current world champion.

They took my belts and handed them to Usyk. But Moses will destroy him anyway, because it’s the young man against the old man. And the old man can never compete with the young,” Fury said.

In 2024, Tyson Fury lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk by decision before announcing his retirement. However, in recent months the Briton has repeatedly hinted at a return to the ring — including the possibility of a trilogy with Usyk.
