American Super Featherweight boxer Raymond Ford has responded to Turki Alalshikh’s comments regarding his disapproval of fights “in the style of Tom and Jerry,” where one fighter runs while the other constantly chases.
“That’s definitely unfair to the boxers, because many of them are taught to fight exactly that way.
How can you expect fighters to suddenly change their style — something they’ve never used — just because someone wants more action?
Don’t forget: boxing is a dangerous sport.
Do you want people to put their lives at even greater risk? To just stand in the center of the ring and brawl nonstop — especially against opponents with completely different styles? There are already too many injuries in the sport.
So in my opinion, that was not a very competent statement,” Ford said in an interview with Fight Hub TV.
Raymond Ford is scheduled to face Anthony Cacace on August 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
