Jai Opetaia Knocks Out Squeo

On June 8 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Australia, local IBF cruiserweight champion (up to 90.7 kg) Jai Opetaia (28-0, 22 KOs) defended his title against Italian challenger Claudio Squeo (17-1, 9 KOs).

The bout ended in a decisive stoppage victory for the champion. In the fourth round, Squeo took a knee but managed to continue. However, in the fifth round, he went down again and this time did not get back up — KO 5.

It was the first loss of Squeo’s professional career. For Opetaia, this marked his third consecutive stoppage win — in January, he knocked out David Nyika in the fourth round.
