Cameroonian boxer and PFL Super Fight champion Francis Ngannou (0-2) has expressed interest in returning to boxing for a potential bout against former American heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs).
"A fight with Wilder still excites me. Nothing has changed since our last conversation. If I have only a few fights left, I’d want one of them to be against him.
I’ll wait a few months to see if PFL offers me something. If not, I’ll consider options in boxing. But that doesn’t mean boxing is my priority. I’m confident I can perform in both sports," Ngannou said.
Wilder recently shared his thoughts, confirming his interest in fighting Ngannou.
"The best is yet to come. Yes, we’re still moving forward, still here, just getting everything sorted out.
Francis, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose a child, and I hope I never feel that pain. I hope life is treating you as well as possible, brother.
This fight is still a topic I want to discuss and make part of my plans," Wilder told TMZSports.
Ngannou’s professional boxing record includes two bouts: a split-decision loss to Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and a second-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
Deontay Wilder has suffered four defeats in his last five fights. The "Bronze Bomber" last entered the ring in June against Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs), losing by technical knockout in the fifth round.
