Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn weighed in on a fantasy clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Mike Tyson.
“I think true legacy is only formed over time, but even now we should be talking about Usyk as one of the greats—I mean among the great heavyweights. I feel very few fighters could compete at the very highest level across eras against guys like Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali.
And you know, Usyk—I realize it’s hypothetical, but what a fight Usyk vs Ali would be. Two genius boxers. I think he’d probably edge Mike Tyson, right? Larry Holmes, too. If we’re talking about the big heavyweights—Joe Frazier, for example—it feels like he could beat them as well. And the most remarkable part is he isn’t even that big physically,” Hearn said.
Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) is a three-time undisputed world champion—and the first two-time undisputed champion at heavyweight since Muhammad Ali.
