Hrgovic Drops Adeleye to Claim Victory

On August 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a 10-round Heavyweight bout took place between 33-year-old Croatian Filip Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) and 28-year-old Briton David Adeleye (14-2, 13 KOs). The WBO International Heavyweight title was on the line.

The fight ended with a judges’ decision in favor of Hrgovic: 98-91 and twice 99-90.

In the second round, Hrgovic suffered a cut over his right eye. However, the bout continued without the kind of trouble he had experienced against Daniel Dubois, when a similar injury forced a premature stoppage. In the eighth round, Adeleye was sent to the canvas.

For Hrgovic, this was his second fight since the loss to Daniel Dubois. In his previous outing, he defeated Joe Joyce by decision. Adeleye, meanwhile, had stopped his last two opponents inside one and six rounds, respectively.
