Former world champion Tyson Fury shared his thoughts on the upcoming rematch between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) — holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO titles — and IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).
“Right now, Daniel’s in good shape — he’s beaten [Jarrell] Miller, [Filip] Hrgovic, and [Anthony] Joshua. But Usyk’s ready too: last year, we went twelve rounds twice, and that gives him the edge.
Usyk is 37 — he’s nearing the end of his career. This is a young man’s sport. Thirty-six or thirty-seven may not sound old, but in professional sports, it absolutely is. You never really know how things will unfold.
I’ve always thought Usyk would beat him again. He’s already done it once, and I think he’ll do it again. But in the heavyweight division, there are no guarantees — Dubois is big and very powerful,” said Fury.
The rematch for the undisputed heavyweight championship (over 90.7 kg / 200 lbs) between Usyk and Dubois is set for July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
