Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya has shared his thoughts on a potential fight between his former rival Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) and current WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs).
“I wish Pacquiao all the best. Obviously, he’s not the same Pacquiao who fought me, who fought the greats. I wish him luck — he should be careful. He’s not as young as he used to be, but I’m sure there’s still some power left in him. So anything can happen. But yes, he should be careful,” said De La Hoya.
According to preliminary reports, Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios are expected to meet on July 19 in Las Vegas, USA.
Pacquiao and De La Hoya fought on December 6, 2008, in Las Vegas. The Filipino star moved up from lightweight (61.2 kg) to welterweight (66.7 kg) and stopped De La Hoya after his corner retired following the eighth round.
