Angelo Leo Retains Title for the First Time – Defeats Kameda in Japan

On May 24 in Osaka, Japan, IBF featherweight champion, 31-year-old American Angelo Leo (25-1, 12 KOs), stepped into the ring against 33-year-old Japanese contender Tomoki Kameda (42-4, 23 KOs).

After twelve tightly contested rounds, Leo came out on top via majority decision, with the judges scoring it 114–114, 115–113, and 116–112.

This bout marked Leo’s first title defense, after he captured the belt in summer 2024 by knocking out Luis Alberto Lopez in the 10th round. For Kameda, it was his first loss since 2023, when he also dropped a decision.
