On May 28 in Yokohama, Japan, WBO bantamweight champion Yoshiki Takei (11-0, 9 KOs) defended his title in dominant fashion against previously unbeaten Thai challenger Yuttapong Tongdee (15-1, 9 KOs).
Takei scored three knockdowns in the first round, and with Tongdee no longer responding to punches by the end of the three-minute frame, the referee stepped in to wave it off — TKO 1.
This marks the first loss of Tongdee’s career and the second successful title defense for the fast-rising Japanese star.
