Wilder on Usyk: “The Fight Is Real, We Are Negotiating”

Former Heavyweight world champion, the American Deontay Wilder, talked about the stage of negotiations for a fight against the Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.

“This fight is real. We are talking, we are negotiating. I like it. They saw me losing and decided, 'Oh, now we can take him on.' Let them think that—I like it.”

“This is going to be a movie. When I beat him, boxing will come alive again. The excitement, the thrill—all of it will return. I've brought boxing back before and I'll do it again.”

“I'm grateful to him. For calling my name. No one in boxing has done that for me. If this fight happens, I won't forget it,” said Wilder.

Previously, Oleksandr Usyk stated that he wants to face Deontay. He subsequently filed a request with the WBC for a voluntary defense of his belt, and the organization approved it.
