WBC sanctions Bohachuk–Ortiz rematch

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has officially sanctioned a rematch between interim super welterweight (up to 69.9 kg) champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) and top-ranked contender Serhii Bohachuk (26-2, 24 KOs).

This fight will serve as the final eliminator for the full WBC world title in the division.

The first meeting between Bohachuk and Ortiz took place in August 2024 and ended in a majority decision victory for Ortiz. Since then, Bohachuk has scored wins over Ishmael Davis and Mykal Fox, while Ortiz defeated Israil Madrimov.
