Warren: "Usyk Did Not Surprise Me"

Promoter and founder of Queensberry Promotions, Frank Warren, shared his thoughts on the fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship between Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

"I can't say Usyk surprised me. He had a strong finish, but from the 3rd to the 6th or 7th rounds, the fight wasn’t going his way. I honestly thought Tyson would stop him; he caught him multiple times. However, Alexander came back because he's a warrior.

As Tyson said at the press conference, he doesn’t fight for money; he's a very wealthy man. He fights because he wants to fight. It's the same with Usyk. They both wanted to be the undisputed world champion, and now Usyk is," Warren said.

The fight went all 12 rounds and ended with Usyk winning by split decision. Oleksandr Usyk is the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, who achieved the feat in a rematch against Evander Holyfield on November 13, 1999.
