Warren on Dubois: “Two Losses to Usyk Are Not the End of the World”

Frank Warren, the founder and head of Queensberry Promotions and promoter of former world Heavyweight Champion Daniel Dubois, has confirmed that his fighter intends to face Cuban contender Frank Sanchez.

We’ll sit down at the negotiating table, and obviously that fight will happen. He’ll be back early in the new year, and it’s going to be a big one.

He’s only 28 — that’s a baby in Heavyweight terms. Look at his losses. Yes, there was that controversial fight with Joe Joyce where he injured his eye — Joyce performed well that night. And two defeats to Usyk — that’s not the end of the world, especially for such a young guy.

He just has to improve; otherwise, that’s it. He needs to learn from those experiences and take a step forward. He must show everyone what he’s capable of. We know he can punch. His fights are always exciting.

If you think about it, in his last two fights, more people watched him live than any other boxer — nearly 190,000 fans. He’s an entertaining fighter who’s never in a dull fight,” Warren said.

The IBF has sanctioned a Heavyweight eliminator between Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) and Frank Sanchez (25-1, 18 KOs). The winner will become the mandatory challenger for the IBF title, currently held by the undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs).
