WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley reacted to the news that former unified world champion Tyson Fury is considering him as an option for a bout.
"He was already on my radar. It doesn't change anything for me. Look, this is something that really interests me because I don't shy away from big fights. I didn't win the world title to have easy fights, hold onto the belt, and hide with it.
I'm not going to run away with my belt and not offer it to anyone. The biggest names are exactly the guys I want to fight. To say I'm open to negotiations is an understatement. I'm extremely curious to see if he's actually serious about this.
Maybe he sees it as an easy option: come out of retirement, have a fight, take the world title, and move on to bigger things. But as other fighters have realized lately, I am a very difficult opponent.
I would bet on myself against anyone in this division. That's already been proven. Regardless of the opponent, the scale of the event, the night, the tournament, or even how the fight itself is going, I always have a chance. I won't give up until the final bell rings," Wardley said.
Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) plans to return in 2026 and is considering a matchup with Wardley. He has not boxed since 2024. Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) knocked out two opponents in 2025 and became champion.
