Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, has revealed that undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor may be considering retirement following her historic win over Amanda Serrano.
“After the Serrano fight, it was the first time I heard Katie say: ‘If I fight again,’ instead of ‘When I fight again.’
I think timing your retirement right is very important. That last fight would’ve been a great moment to bow out.
But there have been some conversations, and you saw the Irish Minister for Sport say they should support a fight for Katie aylor at Croke Park.
That’s probably the one thing that could bring her back.
Selling out Madison Square Garden, a massive audience on Netflix, and winning the trilogy — that’s an incredible way to go out. But it’s equally important to have your final fight at Croke Park. That may be one of the few reasons we’ll see her in the ring again,” Hearn said.
Hearn also mentioned potential opponents if Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) were to return: Caroline Dubois, Chantelle Cameron, and Terri Harper are all being considered.
In her most recent bout, Taylor secured a decision win over Amanda Serrano, completing her trilogy with a 3–0 record.
