Should Opetaia Face Itauma? Expert Weighs In

British TV host Simon Jordan shared his thoughts on a potential matchup between Australia’s IBF Cruiserweight World Champion Jai Opetaia and 20-year-old British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma.

“Right now, I’d say yes to that fight, because I think Jai Opetaia is a very smart fighter. He would make Moses face something completely new. Should Jai move up to heavyweight? Yes, without a doubt,” said Jordan.

In June, Jai Opetaia (28-0, 22 KOs) knocked out Claudio Squeo in the fifth round. The 30-year-old Australian will next defend his title on December 6 against Hussein Chinkara.

On August 16, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) stopped Dillian Whyte via first-round TKO. He will headline a show on December 13 at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, UK — though his opponent has yet to be announced.
