Sebastian Fundora Stripped of WBO Title

WBO president Gustavo Olivieri has officially announced that Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 14 KOs) has been stripped of the WBO junior middleweight title (69.9 kg limit) for failing to fulfill his mandatory defense against Xander Zayas (21-0, 13 KOs).

“The WBO Championship Committee has unanimously voted to strip Fundora of the WBO junior middleweight title, effective immediately.

The Executive Committee has ratified this decision.

The title is now vacant. An official resolution will be released shortly,” Olivieri stated.

Fundora still holds the WBC title, and a rematch with Tim Tszyu has already been announced by Premier Boxing Champions.

In March, Fundora defeated Chordale Booker via fourth-round TKO.
