Russell Trolls Roach: “Your Gym’s Called ‘No Excuses?’”

Gary Russell Jr., the 37-year-old former world champion, has called out Lamont Roach and mocked the WBA super featherweight titleholder for what he sees as contradictions between words and actions.

“It’s funny your gym is called ‘No Excuses’, yet you’ve got a million reasons why you won’t fight me, man,” Russell posted.

Roach has previously stated that he’s only interested in facing Gary Antuanne Russell.

Gary Russell Jr. (32-2, 19 KOs) returned to the ring in summer 2025 after nearly 3.5 years away, stopping Castañeda in the 10th round.
