American puncher Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KO) and Britain’s Sam Noakes (17-0, 15 KO) will meet for the vacant WBO Lightweight title, The Ring has reported.
The bout will feature on a Riyadh Season card in November that is also set to include WBC Welterweight champion Brian Norman defending against Devin Haney, plus WBC Light Heavyweight title-holder David Benavidez facing Anthony Yarde. Exact date and venue will be announced in due course.
The WBO sanctioned Mason-Noakes after former champion Keyshawn Davis was stripped for missing weight ahead of his cancelled fight with Edwin De Los Santos.
On 7 June Mason forced the corner of Jeremia Nakathila to pull their man out after five rounds, while Noakes last appeared in May, knocking out Patrik Balazs in the third.
