WBC interim heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel shared his view on why Daniel Dubois was defeated in the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

“I think he had certain psychological difficulties in that fight with Usyk — that wasn’t quite the Dubois we’re used to seeing. But what can you do — this is heavyweight boxing, where one punch can change everything.

When you look at my career, I’ve always taken the toughest challenges. When I fought Makhmudov, I was the underdog. Same with Frank Sánchez. And when I faced Zhilei Zhang, everyone said Kabayel couldn’t win. But as you can see — things turned out differently.

Now I’m here, and I believe a fight with Daniel is one of the most anticipated for boxing fans. I’m ready for it and happy about this opportunity,” Kabayel said.

In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO) stopped Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO) in the 5th round, reclaiming the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KO) is set to face Damian Knyba on January 10.
