Itauma Tops WBO Rankings After Stopping Balogun

British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) has officially risen to the No. 1 spot in the WBO rankings following his dominant win over American Mike Balogun (21-2, 16 KOs).

The news was confirmed by WBO President Gustavo Olivieri, who praised the 20-year-old’s rapid ascent.

“Moses Itauma has climbed the WBO rankings thanks to his talent, discipline, and impressive performances. He is now the number one heavyweight contender in the world, and his moment is coming. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot — and the world witnesses the birth of a new star,” Olivieri wrote.

As a reminder, Itauma stopped Balogun by TKO in the second round on May 24, further cementing his rise as one of boxing’s most exciting heavyweight talents.
