Sanchez–Ajagba Fight Collapses: Itauma Clears Path to Usyk

20-year-old British prospect Moses Itauma may now get the chance to fight in an IBF eliminator for the Heavyweight title held by undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Originally, the final eliminator was planned between Frank Sanchez and Efe Ajagba, but Ajagba pulled out and lost his ranking position. That opened the door for Itauma, who sits just behind Sanchez in the IBF list.

At the same time, the Brit also tops the WBO rankings behind interim champion Joseph Parker, giving him an alternative route. Should Itauma take another path, Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez could instead get the fight with Sanchez.

On August 16, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) knocked out Dillian Whyte in the first round.

In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to regain his status as undisputed Heavyweight champion.

Later, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) ordered Usyk to face the winner of the October 25 clash between Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) and Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs).
