Undisputed super bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue has revealed his major ambition for the upcoming year — to become the pound-for-pound No.1 fighter in the world by the end of 2025.
“I don’t know if I’ll be back at the top of the P4P list after this fight… but in September, December, next year… I hope to return there after those bouts. I’m really looking forward to it.
A lot of fans came out today. I know there are high expectations for me. I want to live up to them.
I know Cinco de Mayo is a legendary date in boxing, and I’m really honored to be the main event. There are so many Mexican fighters I admire. This will be a great battle for me, and I’m very excited about it. I’m fully confident going into this fight. Cardenas is a well-rounded boxer, but no matter how things unfold, I’ll have the edge,” said Inoue.
Naoya Inoue’s next fight takes place on May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
