Hearn Picks His No.1 Pound-for-Pound: Usyk or Crawford?

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on whether he agrees with The Ring’s decision to move Terence Crawford to the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings following his victory over Saul Alvarez.

“If you look strictly at Terence Crawford’s wins, Oleksandr Usyk should still be No.1 in the P4P rankings. But when you consider the accomplishments—world champion in five divisions, three-time undisputed champion—on paper, Terence has a very strong case.

But to go on the road, beat the cruiserweight champions, then move up to heavyweight and twice defeat AJ, twice Fury, twice Dubois…

On paper, what Crawford has done is very impressive. But for me, Usyk is still the leader. Crawford’s win over Canelo doesn’t necessarily make him the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter. But the fact he moved up two divisions to do it makes the race extremely close,” said Hearn.

Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) became the first undisputed champion in three weight classes in the four-belt era after defeating Saul Alvarez. Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) is the first three-time undisputed champion of the four-belt era, having unified the cruiserweight division and twice doing so at heavyweight.
