Haney: “I want Ryan to beat Barrios so we can have a rematch”

American WBO Welterweight world champion Devin Haney shared his thoughts on a possible rematch with fellow American Ryan Garcia.

– I saw how Ryan Garcia, your “good friend,” wrote before the fight (against Brian Norman — ed.) that he bet $50,000 on you. Obviously, he was right. And Ryan Garcia said he’s going to fight Mario Barrios for the title. If he wins, your rematch will be one of the biggest fights in boxing.

– Yeah, I think that fight will be huge. I’ll be rooting for him. I want him to win so we can make it happen, so I can get my payback. I think it’s a big fight for boxing. There are a lot of unanswered questions on both sides. I think that fight will happen, said Haney.

In April 2024, Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) defeated Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) by decision, but the result was later overturned due to Ryan’s positive doping test, and the boxer received a one-year suspension.
