Golovkin Names the Condition for Retirement

Former Middleweight world champion Gennadiy Golovkin has spoken about whether he plans to return to the ring — and revealed the condition under which he will officially announce his retirement.

“Most likely, if my candidacy for the position of World Boxing president is approved, I will officially announce the end of my boxing career.

Although… there is always a possibility. Since I stay in shape and live a sporting lifestyle, a return to the ring cannot be ruled out,” Golovkin said.

The Kazakh boxer has not fought since 2022, when he lost to Saul Alvarez by unanimous decision. Golovkin is now 43 years old and serves as president of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan.

The World Boxing presidential election will take place in Rome on November 23.
