Martinez Defeats Ioka Again, Retains WBA Title

On May 11 in Tokyo, Japan, WBA super flyweight champion Fernando Martinez (18–0, 9 KOs) scored his second consecutive victory over Kazuto Ioka (31–4–1, 16 KOs) in their rematch at 52.2 kg.

The fight went the full twelve rounds and ended with a unanimous decision win for Martinez. Judges scored the bout 115–112, 117–110, and 114–113 in favor of the Argentine champion.

Their first encounter, held on July 7, 2024, also ended with a unanimous decision for Martinez.

In both bouts, the two fighters combined to throw over 1900 punches across twelve rounds — showcasing high-volume action at the elite level.
