Former world champion Chris Algieri believes the careers of ex-heavyweight kings Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder have mirrored each other in striking fashion:
“I hope we finally get the long-awaited fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
Both men seem to have come full circle. There was a time when each deserved to be called the premier heavyweight on the planet—when they carried an aura, looked fearsome, and felt invincible. Then they both lost, became mortal, and vulnerable. To varying degrees they tried to remake themselves—and both still show the scars of those defeats.
The similarity is almost eerie. Given their history, one beating the other might be exactly what each needs to heal some of those wounds—even if they’ll never again be quite the fighters they once were,” wrote Algieri.
Wilder’s next outing is against Tyrell Herndon. A full preview of that bout is available at the link.
