Chris Eubank Sr., father of IBO middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr., has delivered a scathing critique of his son's recent behavior — going so far as to say that his boxing license should be revoked.
“His license should be revoked.
A £100,000 fine — is that a lot of money? Some fighters never earn that in their entire careers. But to him, it means nothing, given the kind of money he’s really making.
But what he’s doing… it sends a message that mocks boxing. And you’re all ignoring it, and I don’t understand why you don’t see it. He’s being criticized, sure — but the public still watches him because they think, ‘Oh, it’s just entertainment.’ This isn’t entertainment. It’s a calling. It’s about upholding standards.
Their language violates the rules. Their actions — physical ones that happen outside the ring — violate the rules.
Even the weight — that’s against the rules too,” said Eubank Sr.
The fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is scheduled for April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Full bout statistics and matchup breakdowns are available via RTFight here.
