Ukrainian heavyweight Vladyslav Sirenko (22-0, 19 KOs) had agreed to face Britain’s Dillian Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs) on short notice, according to Tribuna.com.
The fight, scheduled for June 7, was agreed upon and signed quickly after negotiations initiated by Whyte’s team. However, just one week before the fight, the British side pulled out unexpectedly. The reasons for the cancellation remain unknown.
Earlier, Queensberry Promotions founder and head Frank Warren stated that Whyte would no longer appear on the June card, as he had received an opportunity for a “major fight” in August:
“He’s off the card now. He’s got the chance for a big, big fight in August, and we’re working to finalize it.
It’s genuinely a huge fight for him, and that’s going to take priority.
He wants it. He wants a bigger-stage fight than the one that was planned for Ipswich. And that’s what’s going to happen — it’s a really, really big fight,” Warren said.
The 37-year-old Whyte last fought in December 2024, stopping Ebenezer Tetteh in the seventh round.
In his last outing, Sirenko scored a fourth-round TKO over Brandon Carmack in October — marking his sixth consecutive stoppage victory.
