Oscar Reacts to Possible Changes to the Ali Act: “The Same Unethical Business Practices”

Head of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya has commented on the proposed amendments to the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act.

Last week word got out that TKO is trying to push amendments to the Ali Act. Fighters, beware…

Now that TKO is gearing up to enter the boxing scene, the first thing they want to do is rewrite the Act and leave fighters unprotected. TKO needs those changes so they can import the same unethical business practices they used to build a monopoly with the UFC.

Think about it: the UFC’s own fighters sued them. They just settled an antitrust case for $375 million over allegations they used illegal tactics to suppress fighter pay and squeeze out rival promoters.

And after all that, they come into another sport and try to do the same thing. Dana White flaunts his ties to President Donald Trump and is clearly banking on that connection to get this through.

Scoundrels are always scoundrels, and every move they make is predictable. The Ali Act exists for a reason. The fact that changing it is the very first step they want to take in boxing tells you everything you need to know. TKO will lie and say it’s better for everyone… they’re doing the opposite.

I’m telling you now — this is a warning to all fighters,” De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV.

TKO Boxing is a new promotional venture headed by Dana White and co-founded by Turki Alalshikh. It operates inside the same corporate structure that houses MMA giant UFC.
