WBC and WBA World light heavyweight champion David Benavidez says he aims to secure his place among the best fighters of this era.

I’m here to show what I’m capable of. People will keep saying what I can or can’t do, or that I’m avoiding certain opponents. But when I get in the ring — I win, every time.

I want to prove my ability as a fighter — that’s why I’m here. I want to show the skeptics they’re wrong, step into the ring, and win more titles.

I try to be like the great masters of this sport. I want to be mentioned in the same breath as Usyk, Terence Crawford, all those guys — and I still have plenty of time. I’m only 28, and I want to achieve greatness,” Benavidez said.

On November 23, David Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs) stopped Anthony Yarde by TKO and defended his belts. After the victory, he announced that his next fight will be against WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramírez.
