British heavyweight David Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) shared his thoughts following a dominant rematch win over fellow Brit Johnny Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs).
“Apart from Frazer Clarke, I haven’t faced a notable opponent since 2019. After going ten rounds in the first fight, I got a bit overconfident and gained some weight. But I knew from the start I’d win this one. After 30 seconds, three rounds — it was just a matter of time before I caught him.
People say I’m an entertaining fighter. But I don’t enjoy taking punches — I’m just not as slick at avoiding them as some. Johnny’s a very nice guy, but still a rookie. This was probably one of the easiest fights of my entire career.
I’m not overly thrilled, because this is a certain level, not the top. I won the national amateur title in 2011… it’s 2025 now, and I’m only just starting to do something — but that’s good.
I enjoy boxing at this level. I’m a solid British-level fighter, technical — as good as anyone, and clever. The average boxing fan who doesn’t know much thinks I’m just a fat, durable guy, but I’m actually smart, and I punch hard. I’m not looking to fight the top guys — I just want to stay at this level and put on a show. It’s more about entertaining fights than chasing major titles,” said Allen.
To recap, on May 17, Allen stopped Fisher via TKO in round 5 — first scoring a knockdown, then forcing Fisher’s corner to throw in the towel after a sustained offensive flurry.
