
In the night of 11 January at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, USA, a boxing event took place headlined by a bout between Puerto Rican WBC world champion at super lightweight (up to 63.5 kg) Subriel Matias (23-3, 22 KOs) and Britain’s Dalton Smith (19-0, 14 KOs).
The fight ended in a stoppage win for Smith – in the fifth round the Briton sent Matias to the canvas after a prolonged attack. The Puerto Rican beat the count, but the referee decided to stop the contest. TKO 5.
This is the first world title of Dalton Smith’s career. Subriel Matias sees his three-fight winning streak come to an end.
