Cruiserweight Champion Confident: “We Beat Opetaia Any Way You Slice It”

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs), the current WBA and WBO World Cruiserweight Champion, believes he would decisively beat Jai Opetaia (28-0, 22 KOs), the IBF titleholder from Australia.

He did what he had to do against Squeo — a B/C-level opponent. It was the typical Jai Opetaia style — just another day at the office. Nothing new. That’s been the story of his career. There’s a reason why he’s only known within his local circle in Australia. Hopefully, he starts finding better opponents to develop his skills and raise his market value.

Up until recently, I didn’t really pay much attention to him — not until my team brought him up. There’s potential in the fight, sure. But any way you slice it, the result will be the same: I win. I’m the unified world champion and the best cruiserweight in the world. This fight could happen soon,” said Ramirez.

Jai Opetaia most recently stopped Claudio Squeo in the fifth round. Full fight statistics — link.
