Joe Cordina Defeats Jaret González in Manchester

On 5 July in Manchester, United Kingdom, Joe Cordina (18-1, 9 KO) faced Mexico’s Jaret González Quiroz (17-2, 13 KO) for the vacant WBO Global Lightweight title (135-lb limit).

The bout went the full ten rounds, with Cordina prevailing by unanimous decision. Judges scored it 100–90, 99–91 and 98–92 for the Briton.

The victory wipes away Cordina’s May 2024 loss to Anthony Cacace and marks a successful first outing at Lightweight.

For González, it is the second defeat of his career, snapping a five-fight winning streak.
