Christian Mbilli Sets Timeline for Ring Return

Interim WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli has revealed when he plans to return to the ring. Recently, the World Boxing Council (WBC) canceled his previously sanctioned bout against Hamzah Sheeraz, citing a lack of progress in negotiations.

“Now, I think there are more opportunities, because before, Canelo [Alvarez] had the division blocked.

I think I will become the WBC world champion very soon, and after that, I want to be number one in the division. I don't know if Canelo still wants to fight. I will take the opportunity to beat him if it arises, but first I want to become world champion.

I hope to get in the ring by May, preferably in March or April. I'm waiting for an opponent and possibly a broadcast date,” Mbilli said.

Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) fought twice in 2025: he knocked out Maciej Sulecki and fought to a draw against Lester Martinez. The bout against Martinez is widely regarded as one of the best fights of the past year.
