Chisora Explains Why Usyk–Wardley Ends in Under Six Rounds

Derek Chisora / Derek Chisora on Twitter

British heavyweight Derek Chisora believes that current WBO interim champion Fabio Wardley will have no real chance against the undisputed king of the division, Oleksandr Usyk.

“If he fights Usyk, Oleksandr knocks him out in less than six rounds, because Usyk will make him work when he doesn’t want to work. Usyk is a beast.

Wardley needs to be in much better shape than he is now. You’ve got to be in shape. It’s not about special boxing skills — it’s about keeping up with him and being mentally ready. Most people think: ‘I’ll go in there and just do it!’ — No, no.

Usyk will make you move, make you work, make you think — and that drains you. One moment he’s here, the next he’s there. He’s touching you constantly, and you think it’s fine because you still feel strong. But then you try to come forward — and boom. He hits you with something big,” – said Chisora.

In his most recent fight, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO) stopped Joseph Parker in the 11th round. Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO) last fought in July, stopping Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to once again become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
