Canelo Confirms Interest in Eubank Fight

Mexican unified super middleweight champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) has confirmed his interest in a potential showdown with British IBO middleweight titleholder Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs).

“I’ve already beaten eight British fighters? Well then, Eubank can be the ninth. I want to fight in the UK — and I promise I will. I don’t know exactly where yet, but it’s going to happen.

Do people want to see me fight Chris Eubank Jr.? Maybe that’s the fight. I’m considering it, but we’ll see how things play out.

Let’s see what happens, but I think a fight with Eubank is a big event, right? I’m only interested in big fights now. I want to enjoy every moment. I’ve already achieved everything in boxing. Sure, I could beat a few more world champions, but at this stage, I’m chasing the biggest fights and biggest moments,” Canelo said in an interview with The Ring magazine.

Canelo is set to face William Scull on May 3 in a bout for the undisputed super middleweight title. If victorious, a September megafight against Terence Crawford is expected.

Meanwhile, Chris Eubank Jr. is coming off a unanimous decision win over Conor Benn on April 26, with a potential rematch in the works.
