“He’s Number One.” Buatsi and Parker Talk Ahead of Clash

Joshua Buatsi, Zach Parker / Queensberry

Former interim WBO light heavyweight champion Joshua Buatsi shared his mindset ahead of his showdown with Zach Parker.

I know I have to win this fight. I’ve trained extremely hard and I’m looking forward to getting in the ring.

Right now, I’m placing him at the very top. He’s the next man I need to beat to move forward — so for me, he’s number one.

He’s ambitious — and that makes him dangerous. Parker looks very driven, which means he’s going to be a tough opponent, and I just need to go in there and do my job,” Buatsi said.

Parker, meanwhile, believes the fans still haven’t seen his full potential:

Of course, I’ve been a bit inactive, but I’m excited for this fight — it’s a big one.

He’s boxed at light heavyweight his whole career, so he’s comfortable in the division. He had a good performance against Callum Smith, even though he lost.

I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve. I’m coming in fully prepared. I need to beat him — and I want to do it in style. I need to put on a show and show people what I’m capable of.

I feel like the public has only seen about 30% of what I can do,” Parker said.

The Buatsi (19-1, 13 KO) vs. Parker (26-1, 18 KO) fight takes place November 1 in Manchester, UK.
