Brian Norman Sr. (17-11, 5 KOs)—father and trainer of WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs)—is set to make a shocking return to the professional ring after 14 years away.
His comeback stems from a heated exchange with Greg Hackett (3-23-1, 0 KOs) during a podcast, which escalated into a challenge that neither man backed down from. Now, they’ll settle it in the ring in a six-round light heavyweight bout (175 lbs / 79.4 kg) on February 15 at Champion Boxing Gym in Jonesboro, Georgia, USA. The fight will be broadcast on BLK Prime.
In a twist, Norman Sr. is now being trained by his own son, who is simultaneously preparing for his first WBO title defense on March 29 in Las Vegas against Derrieck Cuevas.
The last time Norman Sr. fought professionally was in January 2011, when he suffered a sixth-round TKO loss to Dominic Wade. Despite the long layoff, he remains confident in his conditioning and boldly claims that Hackett won’t last the full six rounds.
